Fruit bomb dominated by delicious ripe strawberries with notes of black olive and rosemary. Very full-bodied, with ripe silky tannins and surprising freshness for the style.
The Producer:
In the Roman era a soldier named Gigius cultivated his own vines and lend his name to his small wine estate. Records from 1178, mention the vineyard under the name Gigonius, and more recently a very old vine stock and fragments of amphora discovered on the estate confirmed that people have been producing wine here since the Roman era. Jean-François Hénin, originally from Burgundy, runs his small estate following principles of organic agriculture and aiming to produce a bold and elegant style of Châteauneuf.
